The first 100 hours the skills of bathing, brushing, nails, and clean clipper lines should be mastered. In the next 100 hours, the skills of breed recognition and group patterns should be mastered. The next skills to be practiced are scissoring and balance which will consist through the duration of the class time. |

Topics during instruction: · Plucking and cleaning ears · Cutting nails · Prep work (pads, sanitary area) · Brushing and dematting · Bathing (shampoos/conditioners) · Drying (cage/manual) · How to recognize skin problems · Parasite control · Care and repair of equipment (scissors/blades/clippers) · Safety · Scissor work/ clipper work/ balance · Learning different patterns |

The term consists of 500 clock hours. Countable hours spent out of class will come from educational seminars held outside of class. Home studying does not count toward the needed 500 clock hours. |

Homework includes but not limited to: · Learning complete anatomy of dog · Being able to recognize all AKC breeds and what group they belong to

Discussions includes but not limited to: · Certain breeds to be studied · Origin of breeds · Breeding purpose · Temperament of breed · Coats of the breed |

Graduation: Criteria for insurance of certificate includes a passing grade for the hands on work of ten dogs for each group tested: · Poodles · Bichons · Long legged terriers · Short legged terriers · Sporting · Large breeds · Mix breeds |
